Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish of Benque Viejo del Carmen, Belize sent 22 people including 16 youth from the parish community to have the opportunity of a lifetime to go to World Youth Day in Madrid, Spain with Pope Benedict XVI in August 2011.

Those who were able to go traveled to Rome, Lourdes, Barcelona, and finally to Madrid to encounter an exchange of youthful enthusiasm, culture, art, history, and above all faith. For many of the youth who attended, this was one of their first opportunities to travel outside their village and town to experience the global and universal impact of our Catholic Faith.
